Cultivating Sustainable Food & Farming Transformations
The Consortium for Agroecological Transformations (CAT) works to support India’s 40 million farmers in transitioning towards agroecological practices
that enable a sustainable and equitable food system.
ABOUT US
The Consortium for Agroecological Transformations (CAT) is a collaborative platform working to enable agroecological transformation at scale across India.
Through coordinated, place-based efforts, CAT seeks to enable a sustained shift toward agroecology-driven farming practices supporting fair, resilient, and equitable food systems that benefit farmers, communities, and consumers alike.

Our Vision
A future where agroecology enables resilient livelihoods, healthy ecosystems, and equitable food systems, rooted in local landscapes and driven by farming communities.
Our Approach
Empowering Farmers through Landscape-based Agroecological Transformation
CAT places farmers and communities at the heart of its work through a landscape-based approach. By working at the scale of landscapes, CAT supports the coordinated services, institutions, and systems required for large-scale agroecological change over a sustained period of at least seven years.
This approach brings together diverse stakeholder groups and aligns long-term resources, ensuring that agroecological transitions are viable, durable, and locally rooted.
CAT is currently developing landscape-level investment and implementation plans
across 11 landscapes. Each landscape corresponds broadly to a block-level
administrative unit and has been selected based on ecological, social, and institutional criteria.
Our Levers for Change CAT enables agroecological transformation by aligning three key levers—Policy, Markets, and Finance—to support community-led adoption and long-term transitions
OUR SUPPORTERS
CAT is guided by a network of supporters comprising organisations and individuals with deep experience in agroecology, policy, and systems change.
